James N. Kent

James N. Kent, 84, of Elyria, died November 3, 2012 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. He was born May 29, 1928 in Oberlin, Ohio, moved to Elyria in 1933 and graduated from Elyria High School in 1947. He was employed at General Motors Fisher Guide in Elyria from 1949 until retiring in 1986. Known as the “Mayor of Boston Avenue”, Jim was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and enjoyed all sports, including golf and bowling. Jim is survived by nieces Karol (Alan) Leppien of Elyria and Mary (Ron) Lewis of Parma; sister-in-laws Deanna (Ron) Koepp of Elyria; Elayne Armstrong of Englewood, FL ; brother-in-laws James (Pat) Minnich and Donald (Sandy) Minnich, both of Lorain and friend and neighbor, Fondie Perkins of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois I. in 1996 and brothers Lawrence F. in 1996 and Arnold E. in 2008. Friends will be received Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. ,Elyria. Friends will also be received Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. service at St. John Lutheran Church, 1140 West River Road., North, Elyria. Reverend James Herbolsheimer will officiate with burial in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
