Carole Y. Gubeno

Carole Y. Gubeno (nee Young), 82, of Elyria, died April 7, 2024 at Wesleyan Village.  She was born January 16, 1942 in Dearborn, MI, was a 1959 graduate of Elyria High School and attended Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.  Carole retired as secretary of the Allied Health department at Lorain County Community College.  She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elyria.  She loved knitting and had knitted over 100 prayer shawls for cancer patients.  She was an avid bridge player and a 50-year member of her bridge club.  After retiring, Carole and her husband enjoyed traveling to Florida and Arizona to attend the Cleveland Indians spring training.  They also traveled to Orange Beach, AL to spend time on the sunny gulf coast and enjoyed fresh seafood. 

Carole is survived by sons, Christopher (Annie) Gubeno of Conshohocken, PA and Jason (Lynn Petersmarck) Gubeno of Howell, MI; grandson, Hunter Gubeno; granddaughter, Caroline Petersmarck and a sister, Susan Benson of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gerald C. in 2020 and parents, Hunter and Marjorie Young.
