Arthur R. Turek, 80, of Elyria, died January 30, 2024 at Wesleyan Village, Elyria. He was born March 7, 1943 in Elyria and was a 1961 graduate of Elyria High School. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1965 and worked at The Higbee Company importing furniture and retail sales. In the 1970’s, he moved out west to California and worked for the original Cost Plus World Market. He went on to manage the team at Craft Showcase near San Francisco for many years. Arthur started his own business crafting unique arts and craft style planter boxes, eventually selling them to various garden stores in Sonoma and elsewhere. In his younger years, he attended First United Methodist Church in Elyria with his family. He enjoyed antiquing, camping, picnicking in the California vineyards, the environs of the Bay Area and caring for his cherished collection of green plants. Arthur loved to socialize and enjoy a good laugh with family and friends.
Arthur is survived by a sister, Yvonne T. Brown of San Rafael, CA; five nieces and a cousin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Turek and a brother, James A. Turek.
A service will be Monday, February 5, 2024 at 11:00 am in the chapel at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Reverend Tennille Power, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, Elyria will officiate.
