Barbara A Rider

Barbara A. Rider (nee Belcher), 70, of Elyria, died Saturday December 27, 2025.  She was born December 31, 1954 in Lorain and was a 1974 graduate of Brookside High School.  For 10 years, she volunteered as a teacher’s assistant for Franklin Elementary School.  Barbara also volunteered in the community and was known as the “neighborhood mom”.  She would provide rides to and from school and meals for anyone who was in need.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing short stories, puzzles, coloring and board games.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 51 years, Carl; daughters, Brianne Rider of Elyria and Melinda “Mindy” (Joel) Riedy of Wakeman; granddaughter, Bailey Riedy; sisters, Kathy Belcher, Judith A. (David) Scott and Karen S. Carver; brother, Thomas Meenach and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Turner; father, Eugene Belcher; stepmother, Margaret Belcher and a sister, Carole A. Klinar.

Friends will be received Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 12:00 pm until the time of a 2:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.
