Beverly S Varner

Beverly Sharon Varner, 66, a lifelong Elyria resident, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Ames Family Hospice House, Westlake. She was born October 2, 1957 to Donald and Carol (née Sampson) Varner.

Bev began working at age 15 at a Lawson’s convenience store then for various local companies including Invacare. In 1987, she became a U.S. letter carrier, retiring in 2010 on disability.

Bev loved all things old--antiques, buildings, books, genealogical research; even her favorite magazines were Reminisce and Good Old Days. She especially loved her "old" (longtime) friends. Bev was a very talented artist, photographer, seamstress and creative craft person. She loved time with family and friends, especially the many canine companions who shared her life throughout the years.

A member of God’s family, Bev had a strong faith and attended Church of the Open Door when her health allowed.

Bev is survived by her father, Donald (Opal) Varner of MO; brother, Greg of D.C.; half-brothers, Brian of OR and Kevin of FL; aunt Darlene Varner of Grafton; cousins including Jeannie (Jeff) Johnson of Massillon, Jayme (Mark) Jenkins of WV, Rick (Traci) Sampson of Canton and Joyce Sampson of CA;  many nieces and nephews and her current pup, Lily. 

Bev will be missed by many friends including caregivers Dave (Eva) Prosowski, Diane (Rich) Hales, and sister in spirit, Martha (Bill) Crowell.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol F. Varner in 2012.

Friends will be received Friday, July 19, 2024 from 5:00 pm until the time of a 6:00 pm memorial service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, with Pastor Alana Kelley officiating.
