Charlotte E. McDonald

Charlotte E. McDonald, nee: Fisher, 89, of Elyria, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Normandy Manor of Rocky River. She was born April 17, 1921 in Uhrichsville, Ohio where she was a 1939 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. She graduated from St. Lukes School of Nursing in Cleveland and was then employed as a nursing supervisor at St. Lukes Hospital, moving to Elyria in 1951. Mrs. McDonald was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elyria and a former member of Elyria Memorial Hospital Womens Auxiliary and Elyria Country Club. She enjoyed foreign travel with her husband and friends and had lived in Japan from 1946-1948 where her husband served as a major in the U.S. Army. She enjoyed the arts, playing classical piano and was a patron and supporter of The Cleveland Orchestra. She was a member of several bridge clubs and reading clubs including the Fortnightly and The Book Club.

Charlotte is survived by sons, Harold E. (Deborah) McDonald Jr. of Amherst, Randolph A. McDonald of Berea and Dr. Douglas G. (Deborah) McDonald of Elyria; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a brother, Clarence L. Fisher III of Tehachapi, California. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty nine years, Dr. Harold E. McDonald in 1993; daughter, Susan M. Shramo in 1991, granddaughter, Heather E. McDonald in 1980; sister, Jeanne Gindhart in 2005 and parents, Clarence and Beulah Fisher.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Wednesday 11:00 AM at the Chapel of First United Methodist Church, 312 Third Street, Elyria, with Reverend Roger Talbott officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association PO Box 74924, Cleveland 44194-4924.
