Charlotte Louise Norris, age 88, was born November 4, 1936, to Hazel and Louis Bliesch in Lakewood and entered her eternal rest December 18, 2024. She married Carl W. Norris June 26, 1960 in Cleveland. Charlotte and her husband, Carl have a daughter Nancy Esposito (Dave); son Glen Norris (Pam); four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; cousins; nieces and nephews.
Charlotte and her sister Esther attended the Cleveland City Schools and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1954. Charlotte attended Bowling Green State University majoring in Music Education and graduated in 1958. Her love of music led her to teach music in public schools for five years following graduation until she began to raise her children.
She was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Elyria and sang in the Chancel Choir for most of those years. She played the piano and offered her talents as accompanist during church services when needed. She held a leading role in church rummage sales and always enjoyed children’s ministries, most notably Vacation Bible School.
She sang in the Lorain County Community Civic Chorale for 22 years performing many Master Works, to include a soprano solo in Handel’s “The Messiah” at the annual LCCC Holiday Chorale Concert in December. She enjoyed performing in several local musical theater productions and was never shy about offering her gifts as a singer and thespian to clubs, organizations and various nursing homes.
Her favorite vacation spot was Norris Lake in Tennessee, spending time boating on the beautiful lake with friends and family. She and Carl were long-time members of the West Shore Water Ski Club where she was an avid slalom skier and participated in water ski shows.
Charlotte loved and promoted her community and was a long-time member of the Elyria Women’s Club, the Elyria Musical Arts Society, and the Lorain County Historical Society.
Friends will be received Monday, December 23, 2024 from 10am until the time of a noon service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 N. Ridge Road, Amherst.
