Cora E Young

Cora E. Young (nee Haffner), 95, of Elyria, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones and into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ Thursday July 17, 2025.  She was born December 16, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Emil Richard and Agnes Elizabeth (nee Rhynders) Haffner.  A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she married her husband, William at age 16 July 17, 1946 in New York and soon after moved with him to Ohio.  During their marriage, they lived in Bellevue, Sandusky, Milan, Norwalk and Elyria.

Cora is survived by sons, Frederick (Nora), Jack (Debbie) and Ted; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  She will be dearly missed by her bonus daughter, Beverly Jameson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 79 years, William Oscar Young in 2005; son, William Richard Young; grandson, Bill Young; parents and siblings, Richard, Gerald, William “Billy” and Betty.

The family extends their gratitude to O’Neill Hospice in North Ridgeville and to her “angel”, Courtney Young who took loving care of Cora during her final days.

Friends will be received Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of a 12:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with her son, Reverend Frederick Young officiating.  A family graveside service will be at Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron at a later date.

Cora was dedicated to missions, so the family asks in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 1017 Lake Avenue, Elyria, Ohio 44035 mission fund.
