D. Arlene McGaughey

D. Arlene McGaughey, 95, formerly of Grafton, died Thursday February 1, 2024 at David Simpson Hospice House, Cleveland.  She was born August 20, 1928 in Springfield, Ohio and was a 1946 graduate of Springfield High School.  She was a 1950 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in education.  Arlene taught for 25 years in the Midview School system, retiring in 1984.  After retiring, she and her husband were tutors for the Ohio Reads Program.  She was a member of LaPorte United Methodist Church, Garfield Memorial United Methodist Church, Midview Education Association, Lorain County Retired Teachers Association and Alpha Chi Omega. 

Arlene is survived by a son, Craig McGaughey and his husband, Tom Schaefer of South Euclid; daughter, Marcie McGaughey of Rheurdt, Germany. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald H. in 2011.

A memorial service will be Saturday February 17, 2024 at 11:00 am at Garfield Memorial Methodist Church, 3650 Lander Rd., Pepper Pike, Ohio.
