Daniel J. Lewis
Daniel J. Lewis, 98, of Elyria, died, Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Center Ridge Health Campus, North Ridgeville. He was born October 15, 1912 in Elyria, was a 1931 graduate of Elyria High School where he played saxophone in the Elyria High Band and enjoyed attending his yearly reunions. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Dan was employed by the Elyria city schools as a painter until his retirement in 1975. He was a member and former deacon of Lake Avenue United Church of Christ and a member of Elyria Senior Fellowship.

Dan and his late wife Beatrice enjoyed their family, playing cards with friends and vacationing, including trips to England, Scotland and Mallorca, Spain. His hobbies included; golf, bowling, playing ball with the boys, television and reading.

Dan is survived by sons, Richard E.(Kathi) of Concord, North Carolina, Ronald G.(Susan) of LaGrange and Timothy S.(Dawn) of Grafton; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Beatrice J. nee: Halliday in 1992 and a sister, Helen Bakos.

Friends will be received Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home, 323, Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Saturday 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Robert Gross officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Avenue United Church of Christ, 310 Lowell Street, Elyria.
