Diane W. Wallhead

Diane W. Wallhead (nee Wonder), 89, of Elyria, died June 17, 2024 in her home.  She was born October 17, 1934 in Cleveland and was a 1952 graduate of Avon High School.  She was a member of Community of Faith United Church of Christ in Elyria and involved in the church life and charity work.  Her hobbies included ceramics, crafts, gardening, cooking, baking and playing bingo.  Diane and her husband, Bill, loved to travel the country.  She was known as the Hat Lady throughout her life and always sported a hat to match each outfit! 

Diane is survived by children, Janine (Steven Szilagyi) Chapman of Palm Coast, FL, William “Jeff” Wallhead, Valerie (Wayne Peltz) Collins and Cindy (Phil Peterson) Johnson all of Elyria; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barbara Opfer of LaGrange and Audrey Price of Elyria and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Henry and Anna Wonder and a sister, Sandy Wonder Wulff and sons-in-law, Michael Collins and Glenn Johnson.

Friends will be received Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 11:00 am until the time of a 1:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.   Reverend Delisa Buckingham Taylor will officiate and Elyria VFW 1079 will present military honors for Bill.
