Donald N. Gerome

Donald N. Gerome, 85, formerly of Bay Village, died Saturday, February 22, 2025 at O’Neill Healthcare, North Ridgeville.  He was born April 30, 1939 in Cleveland and was a 1958 graduate of Cathedral Latin High School.  He attended Kent State University where he met the love of his life and future wife, Lois Hayes.  From 1960-2001, Don worked for the United States Postal Office in Cleveland, from where he retired.  They raised their family in Bay Village, living in the same house for 50 years before moving to Norwalk to be near family.  Don was a long time parishioner of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Bay Village and sang in the choir at Holy Spirit Parish, Avon Lake.  He enjoyed watching Cleveland sports teams, listening to music, visiting the West Side Market, gardening, a glass of wine after dinner and most of all, spending time with his growing family.

Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois; son, Christopher (Staci) Gerome; daughters, Amy (Jessica Johnson) Gerome and Corrine (Chris) Lewis; grandchildren, Caitlin, Charlotte and Caroline Lewis, Emily (Chase) Ritchie, Michael Gerome, Megan Olmstead, Jacob Schindler and Brett Shirring and a great-grandson, Archer Ritchie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Gerome and Teresa Ferenc.

A memorial mass will be Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:30 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.  Private burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon.

Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to the West Side Catholic Center, 3135 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44113.
