Donald W. Hange

Donald W. Hange, 92, of Elyria, died Wednesday, September 25, 2024.  He was born May 15, 1932 in Elyria and was a 1950 graduate of Elyria High School.  From 1956-1958, Don served with the US Army.  He was employed as a mechanical engineer at General Motors, Elyria for 37 years, retiring in 1988 and was a graduate of GM Institute, now known as Kettering University.  He enjoyed the big band era and played trumpet in the Patriots Band.  Since 1946, he has been a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church, was a longtime elder and co-chairman of the property committee.  Don enjoyed traveling throughout 49 states with his family pulling an RV.

Don is survived by his wife of 70 years, Glendora and sons, Donald Hange, Jr. of Elyria and Craig Hange of Pioneer, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Wayne and Dorothy Hange and sisters, Geraldine Whalen and Marilyn “Pat” Foreman.

Friends will be received Monday, September 30, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00 am in Washington Avenue Christian Church, 301 Washington Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Nathan A. Russell officiating.  Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Avenue Christian Church Organ Fund.
