Edna M. Edwards

Edna M. Edwards, 89, of Elyria, died Sunday January 25, 2026.  She was born July 6, 1936 in Birdeye, AR and moved to Lorain after high school. Edna retired as a teacher’s assistant in Chicago city schools before moving to Elyria.  She enjoyed attending prayer services with friends and reading her Bible.

Edna is survived by son, Thomas (Jennifer) Searcy, Jr of Elyria; daughter, Toni Brown of Elyria; grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua and Thomas Jay Searcy and Jamal, Michael, Leslie, Lisa and Phillip Brown; numerous great-grandchildren and a sister, Mildred Calendar of Alsip, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jason Edwards and siblings, Neil, Corzena, McKinley, David, Leroy, William and Anthony Hopkins.

Friends will be received Friday, February 6, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of an 11:00 am service at Dicken, Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.  Pastor Lachelle Woods of Forward in Faith Ministries, Lorain will officiate.  Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
