Elizabeth Anne Polen

Elizabeth Anne Polen, 80, of Carlisle Township, died Sunday April 13, 2025 in her home.  She was born February 27, 1945 in Elyria and was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School.  She earned a degree in music from Mary Manse College, Toledo in 1967 and from 1967-1978, she taught music at Midview Schools.  Since 1978, Betty has been employed as treasurer and CFO of Elyria Fence, Inc.  She was a life long member of St. Mary Church, Elyria and enjoyed traveling extensively around the world and playing golf.  Betty spent a lot of time helping her great-nieces with their instruments (flute, guitar and percussion).  She was the loyal at home music tutor along with their accompanist. 

Betty is survived by brothers, Richard (Barbara) Polen; Thomas (Marjorie) Polen and Daniel Polen; nieces, Diane (Steve) Jackson and Heather (Lawrence) Amato; nephews, Anthony (Michelle) Polen, Richard (Kimberly) Polen, Thomas and David Polen; great-nieces, Emily and Lauren Amato and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas R. and Cora Marie Austin (nee Logue) Polen.

Friends will be received Monday April 21, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of a 12:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Charles T. Diedrick officiating.  Private burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Education Endowment Fund.
