Eric A. Wilcox, 76, of Liverpool, New York, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and veteran of the US Military passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, following complications from lengthy health issues. He was born October 24, 1947 in Elyria, Ohio and was a 1967 graduate of Elyria High School where he was an outstanding Track and Field Sprinter.
Eric enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in the summer of 1967 and retired from active duty in 1988 after serving tours of duty in the United States as well as overseas. While in the military, he served the last 12 years of active duty as a medical supervisor in the field of hospital administration. After retiring from the military, he worked as a County Correctional Officer for 20 plus years before retiring from the Onondaga County Department of Correction in Jamesville, NY.
He enjoyed sports, especially watching college basketball, football, and the NFL Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills. He was an avid music and movie fan. He was also an excellent cook, a skilled handyman working on home projects and found much enjoyment in keeping his yard immaculate.
He lived a full life before going home to be with the Lord, he loved God and his family dearly.
Eric is survived by his wife of 44 years, Octavia Wilcox; daughter, Jasmine (Phillip) Wilson; granddaughter, Zorah, of Chesapeake, VA; brother Robert Gary (Shelia) Wilcox, of Midland, TX; other siblings include Shawn Wilcox and Gregory Strong, of Providence, RI and Alison Sceeles and Katheryn Wilcox Terry, of Seekonk, MA and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean Wilcox; grandmother, Evelyn Yarbrough; brother, Leonard B. Wilcox and a sister, Pamela A. Wilcox.
Friends will be received Sunday, November 19, 2023 from noon until the time of a 1:00 pm funeral service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria, OH with Chaplin Beverly Beidleman officiating. Elyria VFW #1079 will present Military Honors.
