Eugene F. Resar

Eugene F. “Cuz” Resar, 86, of LaGrange, died Sunday, July 6, 2025 after a sudden illness.  He was born February 20, 1939 in Elyria and attended Elyria Catholic High School.  Gene worked for his father at Gene Resar Inc. and from 1976-2023, he owned and operated Elyria Pools Inc.  He was an over 50-year member of Operating Engineers Union Local 18 and former president of the Home Builders Association.  He loved spending time with his family and preparing the pool for Sunday funday with the grandchildren.  Gene spent as much time as possible at Cedar Point riding the biggest, fastest roller coasters.  For many years, he was a stock racecar driver and enjoyed watching his grandson race and was his number one fan. 

Gene is survived by his wife, who was the love of his life for 63 years, Rosealie (nee Pember); children, Annette (Ron Prescott) McMullen; Kim (Patrick) Shullick and Bud Resar; grandchildren, Danielle, Chad, Dakota, Brandon, Tyler, Ashley, Kayla and Madison; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jaxon, Cora, Noah, Braison, Paisley, Casten, Baylor and Braxton; sister, Sandy Handley and brothers, Bill, Tom (Susan) and Ron (Mary) Resar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Gladys Resar. 

Friends will be received Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.  A funeral mass will be Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Charles T. Diedrick officiating.  Private burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
