Gary F. Smolka

Gary F. Smolka, 76, of Elyria, died Saturday, February 15, 2025.  He was born March 23, 1948 in Cleveland and was a graduate of St. Edwards High School.  Gary was a US Coast Guard veteran serving in Vietnam.  He grew up in Sheffield Lake and loved boating and fishing.  Most of his life, he had been employed as a machinist.  He was a member of Elyria VFW 1079 and the Veterans Honor Guard. 

Gary is survived by children, Gary (Shelley) Smolka of Avon Lake; Kimberly (Tony) Rogozinski of North Olmsted; Amanda (Dylan) Smolka of Avon Lake and Kathleen (Dennie) Smolka of Sheffield Lake; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Tom (Fran) Smolka of Maumee; sisters, Gayle (Dan) Kimpton of Bradenton, FL, Teresa Williams of Sheffield Village and Christine (Dan) Clark of Vermilion and a sister-in-law, Jean Smolka.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Rose Smolka and a brother, John Smolka.
