Gaylon Russell Gladish 78, of Mentor and formerly of Vermilion died Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born December 29, 1947 in Lorain and was a 1966 graduate of Vermilion High School. For 30 years, Gaylon worked for New Holland Tractors in North Ridgeville as a parts manager, from where he retired. After retirement, he worked with his friend, John on his farm and often took his grandson, Travis with him when he could. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, who were his world. He enjoyed watching Nascar, playing in his band, playing guitar with his buddies and working on vehicles. Gaylon was a loving husband to Deborah and was a pillar of strength and support for his family and together they raised 2 children, Russell and Darla. Gaylon was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love, and a healthy laugh. He cherished family gatherings, and his presence at holidays and celebrations brought warmth and joy to those around him.
Gaylon is survived by his son, Russell Gladish of Mentor; daughter, Darla (Robert) Louk of NC; grandchildren, Noah, Owen, Natalie and Travis; brother, Darrell (Annie) Gladish of Buchtel, OH; best friends, Kenny and Val Crisp, John Fenick, Jack, Bill Walters, Barb Glover and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Deborah in 2015 and parents, Russell and Georgie Gladish.
Friends will be received Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of a 12:00 pm service at Dicken, Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Kathryn Ketchum officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
