George Stan Green, 85, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 3, 2010.
He was born March 26, 1925 in Elyria and was a 1943 graduate of Elyria High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served during WWII.
After returning home from the service, he was a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for several years. He was then employed in sales for thirty-seven years with Economy Motors, which became Barber Motors and then Steve Barry Olds Cadillac, retiring in 1990.
Stan was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church; American Legion Post 12 and the Drum and Bugle Corps of the Post; Elyria Elks Lodge #465; Elyria Senior Fellowship and a fifty year member of Frank S. Harmon Lodge #663 F. & A.M.
He played golf, was a Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and an Elyria High School sports fan and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Stan is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Dorothy Dottie Green; daughters Kathy Fackler (husband David) of Elyria; Nancy Martz-Szabo (husband Tom) of Grafton; son Bob Green (wife Kelly) of Powell, Ohio; grandchildren Jason Fackler, Justin Martz (wife Samantha), Ryan Martz, Danielle and Sean Szabo, Kyle and Tyler Green; and great grandson Jeffrey Douglas Martz.
He was preceded in death by is parents George and Laura Green and son-in-law Jeffrey L. Martz.
The family will receive friends Monday 4 to 7 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria, where Elyria Lodge #787 F & A.M. will conduct a Masonic service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 360 Princeton Ave., Elyria. Reverend Paul E. Jaster will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, where Elyria V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct military honors.
