H. Joseph Dugan, 95, of Elyria, passed away November 9, 2024, at Riverview Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor, Ohio, following a short illness. He was born May 4, 1929, in Turtle Creek, PA, and had been a resident of Elyria for over 60 years.
Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War before becoming manager of the NAPA Auto Parts store in Elyria. Joe was known as someone who could fix anything!
Joe became a Mason in Pennsylvania then joined Scottish Rite and Al Koran Shrine in Ohio. He was a 50-year member of First United Methodist Church in Elyria and a member of Elyria VFW #1079. He drove the antique fire truck for the Lorain County Fire Brigade and took great pride in transporting children to Shriners Hospitals as he was known as a “Roadrunner”.
Joe loved life and was a positive support to everyone he knew. His great-grandchildren were the light and joy of his life.
Joe is survived by his daughters, Sandy Cane of Port Clinton and Kimberly (Aaron) Sullivan of Elyria; grandsons, Adam (Angie) Cane and Dan (Miranda) Cane; and great-grandchildren, Collin John Conley, Elliotte Christine Cane, and Oliver Scott Cane.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, JoAnn, in 2021; his son-in-law, Dr. Bruce Cane; and his brother, Warren Dugan.
Friends will be received Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by prayers at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.
