Helen L. Bellomy, 84, formerly of Elyria, died July 16, 2010 in Fort Myers, FL.

She was born May 24, 1926 in Webbville, KY to Ossie and Viola (nee Hill) Hicks and moved to Elyria from Huntington, WV in 1960.

She was formerly employed for 31 years as a licensed practical nurse at the EMH Regional Medical Center, retiring in 1991.

She was a 50 year member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and was involved in the activities of the church. She enjoyed visiting the residents of local nursing homes, gardening, golf, bowling, fishing and reading.

Helen is survived by her daughter Patricia (Byron) Kearney of Fort Myers, FL; son James (Sharon) Bellomy of Avon, OH; stepdaughter Jeanette ODell of Indiana and stepson Richard Bellomy of Texas; ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren; nine sisters and four brothers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Bernard R. Bellomy in 1990 and a brother James Hicks in 1998.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of an 11:30 a.m. funeral service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Reverend Herbert Slaughter will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
