Helen Rehm Obituary

Helen M. Rehm (nee Czak), 90, a longtime Elyria resident, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully August 5, 2011 in New Hudson, MI.
She was born February 9, 1921 in Lorain,. the second of four children of Stanley and Rose Czak and married Rudolph Rehm in 1944.
She was a 1939 graduate of Elyria High School and was employed for 25 years as a licensed practical nurse at EMH Healthcare and Amherst Hospital, from where she retired. She served in the Civil Air Patrol during WW II and was active in various community organizations. Helen was a member of St. Mary Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
She was strict when appropriate but had a heart of gold and was a friend, advisor and sounding board to her children, who affectionately called her Sarge.
Helen is survived by her daughter Judith (John) Rehm-Norbo of Southfield, MI, son Rudolph (Carla) Rehm, Jr. of La Jolla, CA, grandchildren Jacqueline (Matthew) Rimel, Jay (Catherine) Rehm, Ryan (Bianca) Rehm, five great-grandchildren, sister Josephine (Milan) Taborac and six nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rudolph J. Rehm in 1982, and brothers Edward and Edwin Czak.
Friends will be received Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria, followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave. Elyria. Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Hagedorn will be the celebrant with interment in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church or the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland, 3601 S. Green Rd., Cleveland, OH 44122-5719.
