Ingrid Beal Obituary

Ingrid Beal, 98, of Elyria, died, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Wesleyan Village where she has been a resident for the past 15 years. Ingrid was born June 21, 1912 in Lubeck, Germany to Hans and Ingrid Eggars. Her mother died at her birth and her maternal grandparents adopted and raised her. At the age of 14, she came alone to Elyria to live with her father. Although English was a second language, she graduated as salutatorian in the Elyria High School class of 1931 and was also a graduate of Elyria Business College. After graduation she worked at the Chronicle Telegram and during WWII at Western Automatic. She worked as a secretary with her husband at his business, Beal Construction Company and they also owned and operated the Coffee Cup in Elyria. She was able to return to Germany and Sweden several times to visit relatives. Ingrid was an avid reader all her life and a volunteer at the library of Wesleyan Village. Ingrid is survived by a nephew, Richard (Sharon) Pierce of Elyria and a niece, Marilyn Wilcox of Avon Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth A. Beal in 1995 and a sister, Florence J. Pierce in 1981.

Friends will be received Wednesday, from 11:30 AM until the time of a 12:30 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Christopher D. Robinson, Chaplain of New Life Hospice will officiate with burial in North Murray Ridge Cemetery. Ingrids family extends their thanks to Wesleyan Village and New Life Hospice for their wonderful care.
