Irene Horvath Obituary

Irene E. Horvath Irene E. Horvath, (nee Peter), 88, of Elyria, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Fairview Hospital, Grace Unit, Cleveland, OH. She was born September 30, 1922 in Shoemakers, PA and moved to Elyria in 1943. She worked for several years for the former Perry Fay Company in Elyria. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was an active member of Magyar United Church of Christ in Elyria, where she helped with preparing meals and food sales for the church. She was also an avid Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers fan. Irene is survived by daughters Joerene Horvath and Brucel (John) Smith, both of Elyria; son Joseph (Susan) Horvath, Jr. of Mehlville, MO; grandchildren Keri Smith of Powell, OH, Beth Smith of Elyria, Don Horvath and Bryan Smith, both of Elyria, Joseph, III of St Louis, MO, Christopher Horvath of OFallon, MO and John Jr. of Greece, NY; seven great grandchildren; sister Marge Thomasko of Amherst and brothers William and Frank Peter, both of Elyria. She was preceded in death by husband Joseph Carl Horvath in 1979; sons Joseph Michael and Tommy Horvath; daughter Erin Lynn Horvath; brothers John, Joseph, Julius, Louis and Robert Peter and parents John Sr. and Julia (nee Poruban) Peter. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. A funeral service will be Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Magyar United Church of Christ, 6119 West River Rd. So. Elyria, OH with Reverend Alana Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township and memorial contributions may be made to the church.
