James A. Mitchell, Jr., 60, of Elyria, died August 15, 2023 in his home. He was born September 20, 1962 in Amherst and attended North Ridgeville High School. In 2020, Jimmy received an associates degree in computer science from Lorain County Community College. He attended Elyria Church and enjoyed working on cars, fishing, playing guitar and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jimmy is survived by a son, James (Amanda) Mitchell of Lorain; daughter, Crystal Mitchell of Lorain; grandchildren, James IV, Georgetta, Zoey, Elijah, Rosie, Abigail and Emily; mother, Violet Ruth (nee Moore) Mitchell; sisters; Janet Crawford, Rita (William) Milks and Brenda (Robert) Stevens; former wife, Lisa Mitchell and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Mitchell in 2022; nephew, Matthew Stevens; brother-in-law, Kenneth Crawford and several aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Monday, August 21, 2023 at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Josh Hargis of Elyria Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township.
