Jane S. Lockard (nee Stull), 89, of Elyria, died peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2011 in her home surrounded by family.
She was born in Lakewood, OH and grew up in Berea. She graduated from Baldwin Wallace College and taught music at Longfellow Jr. High in Lorain for several years. She received her Masters from The Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY.
Jane devoted most of her life to her love of music. This music was an integral part of her husbands ministry. They served in six churches throughout the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.
It was Janes desire to educate and uplift the participants in the worship experience and musical programs. She shared her enthusiasm for music through her teaching of piano, pipe organ, and guitar. She also enjoyed singing and quilting. Many described her as a gracious and caring servant.
She is survived by her daughters Miriam (Randy) Hodges of Maple Valley, WA and Sarah Lockard of Oberlin, OH; and son Walter (Libbie) Lockard of N. Olmsted, OH; 4 grandchildren Christopher (Sarah), John (Julia), Stephen (Jessica), and Brie Hodges, and 5 great grandchildren, all of Washington State. Also surviving is a brother Lt. Col. (retired) Ned Stull of Elyria. The family wishes to thank New Life Hospice for the compassionate care and support, as well as caregivers Jan, Christina, Marge, and Peggy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, the Rev. Glenn F. Lockard, and brothers Dr. Daniel Stull, Dr. Joseph Stull and Lt. Graydon Stull and parents L. Walter and Irene (nee Haldeman) Stull.
A memorial service will be Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 1 p.m. in the Wesleyan Village chapel, 807 West Ave., Elyria, OH with Rev. Beth McKee officiating. Interment took place today at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg, OH with Rev. Stacy S. Terrell officiating.
