Janet S. Jantz (nee: Sharrer)79, of Elyria, died Sunday February 6, 2011 at The Cleveland Clinic. She was born April 4, 1931 in Cleveland and has been a lifelong Elyria resident graduating from Elyria High School in 1949. She was employed as a tech in the lab at EMH Regional Medical Center and attended Lorain County Community College where she received her degree as a registered nurse. She continued her work at the hospital from where she retired after 36 years of service. Janet was a member of Elyria V.F.W. #1079 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post #12 Ladies Auxiliary, Elyria Elks Lodge #465 Does and had served as secretary for 30 years. She had been active with United Way, EMH retirees, Elyria Starlets and a donor to the Elyria American Red Cross and served as treasurer for her class reunion committee. She was active with the Orthopedic Nursing Association traveling to various places for meetings and conventions and also traveling with friends. She also enjoyed hosting her monthly card club and bowling. She was a former member of the Elyria Womans Club and Order of the Eastern Star.
Janet is survived by a son, Jeffrey(Daria)Jantz of Perrysburg, Ohio; daughters, Carol J.(Mark)Brennan of Phoenix, Arizona, Laura M.(Steve)Mandeville of Penfield and Katherine J.(Michael)Geers of Naperville, Illinois; grandchildren, Kevin, Kelly and Riley Brennan, Amy(Bob)Richards, Jack and Jason Resar and Andrew and Jannifer Geers; step grandchildren, Sandy and Alan Novak and Alan Mandeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Jantz in 2001; sister Grayce and twin sister, Jean; parents, Clarance and Katherine Sharrer.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of an 11:00 AM memorial service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Jeff Lanzer pastor of Belden United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Nesbett Cemetery, Grafton.
