John Q. Adams, 82, of Elyria, died Thursday, August 15, 2024 at University Hospitals St. John Medical Center, Westlake after a 3-year illness. He was born May 29, 1942 in Elyria and was a graduate of Elyria High School. From 1959-1962, John served with the United States Army stationed in Germany. He was employed at Ford Motor Company for 45 years, retiring in 2007 as a dealer liaison. John was a servant of the Lord in numerous capacities at church and 7 mission trips to El Salvador and the Czech Republic.
John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn D. (nee Wyckoff); daughters, Kelli (Douglas) Hughes of Elyria, Krista (Paul, Jr.) Saylor of Grafton and Kortney (Jim) Paek of Celebration, FL; grandchildren, Joshua, Robert, Jessica, Sarah, Hillary, Morgan, Paul III, Megan, Kyler and Andrew; 7 great-grandchildren and a sister, Barbara Sanchez of Westlake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Adams.
Friends will be received Monday, August 26, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Reverend Todd Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst where Elyria VFW 1079 Honor Guard will present military honors.
