John J. Heck

John J. Heck, 82, of Elyria Township, died Sunday, June 30, 2024 in his home.  He was born May 14, 1942 in Fairmont, WV and served with the US Army from 1960-1963 as an Army engineer.  For 33 years, John worked for Ford Motor Company, Avon Lake as a truck driver, retiring in 2001.  He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Elyria Amvets Post 32, Elyria Moose Lodge 778 and Amherst Eagles 1442.  His hobbies included hunting, camping, fishing, traveling with his wife, spending time with his family and taking their pictures.

John is survived by wife of 60 years, Mary E.; children, John (Cathy) Heck of Columbia Station, Peter (Tammy) Heck of LaGrange and Becky (Todd) Siesky of South Amherst; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Vincent of Fairmont, WV, Linda Smith of Harts, WV and Stella Mae (Robert) Barnett of Fairmont, WV and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, William and Ruby (nee Fetty) Heck; brothers, Tom Fetty and Henry Heck and a sister, Mary Satterfield.

Friends will be received Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.  A funeral service will be Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 2949 West River Road N, Elyria.  Reverend Christina LaLonde will officiate.  Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township where Elyria VFW 1079 Honor Guard will present military honors.
