John E. Williams
John Elwood Williams, 55, of Elyria, died June 22, 2010 at EMH Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 17, 1955 in Elyria. John moved from Elyria to Columbus, where he lived for several years, before recently returning to Elyria to be with his family.
In 1998, John married his wife of 12 years, Michelle Ann Williams (nee Lester).
Prior to his disability, he was Director of Admission at the National Education Center of Garfield, OH. John enjoyed cooking, traveling, fishing and was an avid bible scholar. He had a green thumb for flowering, a master gardener and was well known for his fashionable dressing. Prior to attending service at Greater Noel Tabernacle, John was one of the original deacons at The Call Out Church Almighty God of Elyria.
He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter Johnessa Hunter and Jocquelyn Hunter (Mark), both of Lorain; Johndrea Cannon (Corey); Allexiss Lynch (Delvon-fiancee), all of Elyria; Mary Williams of Oberlin; sons Henry Lynch of Elyria, John Williams (Shenna) of Decatur, AL, Rico Binion of Oberlin and Claude Coleman of Cleveland; sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; brothers Craig Williams (Denise) of Xenia, OH, LeRoy E. Williams (Rosie), Larry Balls (Regina), both of Elyria; Henry Williams, Jr. of Springfield, OH; sisters Florida Dickerson, Yvonne V. Williams and Audrey Williams-Porter, all of Elyria; maternal grandmother Gladys Gardley of Springfield, MA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ruby Williams; sisters Charlene Curry and Patricia Patty Ann Stiles and a son John Palmer.
Family will receive friends Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Family will also receive friends Monday noon until the time of a 1 p.m. funeral service at Mount Zion Church, 614 West River Rd., Elyria, Rev. Dr. Marcettes Cunningham, Pastor. The Elder Cleveland Breggins of Greater Noel Tabernacle, Lorain will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
