Karen Sue Faulkner (nee Jolley), 84, of Elyria, died peacefully in her home at Wesleyan Village on Friday, May 9, 2025. She was born July 6, 1940 in Manhattan, KS, moving to Elyria in the 1950’s and was a 20-year resident of Sullivan, OH from 1982-2002. She was a devoted staff member at Wesleyan Village, Elyria from 1979 until retiring in 2007. Karen was a long-time member of Avon United Methodist Church. She delighted in being a volunteer at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center since 2007, contributing nearly 8,000 hours of service, where she brought joy, happiness and kindness to all. She also enjoyed working in her yard and cherished time with her family and friends.
Karen was beloved by all who knew her. Cheerful, humble, comforting, resilient, loving, witty, inspiring and brave are just a few of the many words that describe her.
Karen is survived by her son, Stacy S. (Michelle) Terrell of Amherst and granddaughters, Emily (Isaac) Slaughter of Curtice, OH and Jillian (fiancé, Noah Henry) Terrell of Amherst, a brother, Frank (Sachie) Jolley of Sykesville, MD, many nieces and nephews and a stepdaughter, Sandy Faulkner of Brighton.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Terrell in 1987; husband, Robert Faulkner in 2002; as well as her father, Frank Jolley; mother, Minnie “Judy” Jolley and sisters, Phyllis Stephen and Donna Risley.
Friends will be received Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 10:30 am at Avon United Methodist Church, 37711 Detroit Road, Avon. Reverend William Baker and Reverend Micah Holland will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery. For those unable to attend, the Celebration of Life will also be available via livestream at: https://new.vlifetech.com/aumc/live
