Ladd Kingsley Martin

It is with great sadness that the family of Ladd Kingsley Martin announces his passing January 9, 2026. Ladd was born May 16, 1947 to Robert and Ruth Martin and was a brother to Chris, Bruce, and Sheldon Martin. Ladd was a loving father to his sons Shon and Ryan Martin as well as his grandchildren Chloe Jarmula and Ellis Martin.

Ladd had a very full life of activities after he graduated from Oberlin High School in 1966. He enjoyed flying his airplanes and taking his family flying to the islands or just out over the lake. He was honored to have been a Firefighter/Driver for the Oberlin Fire Department for 13 years. His family owned The Martin Inn (Oberlin) and Abigail Tea Room (Lakeside).While working for his family Ladd enjoyed cooking while often being found making his employees laugh and pulling pranks on them at times. When he wasn't at the restaurant he could be found on his Lyman boat playing his guitar. Ladd was very proud to have been a school bus driver for the city of Oberlin until his retirement. He will be greatly missed.

Friends will be received Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 11:00 am until the time of a 12:00 pm celebration of life memorial service at Dicken, Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Chuck Behrens officiating.
