Lloyd Ellis Obituary

Reverend Lloyd C. Ellis, 90, died, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at his home in the Wesleyan Village, Elyria, Ohio under the care of New Life Hospice. Lloyd was born March 21, 1920 in Vineland, New Jersey. He graduated from Canisteo High School(New York); Wheaton College(Illinois); and Gordon Theological Seminary(Massachusetts). Reverend Ellis was an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. He served as pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Woonsocket, Rhode Island; Westminster Presbyterian Church, Port Huron, Michigan; and Cleveland Drive Presbyterian Church, Cheektowaga, New York.

He retired to Havertown, Pennsylvania and moved to the Wesleyan Village in 2002. In the months before he died, he was granted a wish from the Second Wind Dreams Foundation at Wesleyan Village to ride in a hot-air balloon.

He enjoyed life to the end, always grateful for a new day and for continued opportunities to live out his faith in God by teaching and serving others. Reverend Ellis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Esther Boone Ellis; daughters, Carol(Richard)Branting, Nancy Leskiw and Janet(Mark)Nowak; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Harold(Jean)Ellis and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Tuesday February 8, 2011 from 4:00 PM until the time of a 5:00 PM service at Wesleyan Village, 807 West Avenue, Elyria, Ohio. Reverend Beth McKee Chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be Wednesday February 9, 2011 at 1:00 PM in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesleyan Village. Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria is charge of arrangements.
