Lois J. Smith

Lois J. Smith (nee Innes), 78, of South Amherst, died peacefully in her home August 17, 2023. She was born May 31, 1945 in Amherst and attended Amherst schools. She was formerly employed as a cashier at K-Mart in Amherst. Lois was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Oberlin. Her family meant everything to her and she was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed visiting Cedar Point with her children and grandchildren and feeding the hummingbirds with her husband. Other interests included cooking, baking, decorating her home for the holidays, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, word search puzzles and completing jigsaw puzzles.

Lois is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard L.; children, Michael, Steven, Thomas (Marta), James, William (Brandy) and Tina Smith; grandchildren, Jordann (Mitch), Michael (Gyn), Alaina, Jacob and Angelina; great-grandchildren, Harper, Grace and Ava; sisters, Pat Baillie and Sharon Jones; brother, Donald Davis and her dog, Bandit.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Betty and Clarence Dye; father and step-mother, John Boyd Innes and Jean Innes; sisters, Barbara Meader and Linda Bellus; brother, Thomas Innes and Daughter-In-Law Missy Harrison Smith (James).

Services are pending. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion.
