Louis A. “Nick” Nickolette, 77, of Grafton, died Sunday, May 11, 2025. He was born July 30, 1947 in Elyria and was a 1965 graduate of Elyria High School. From 1966-1969, Nick served in the US Army, stationed in Germany and Vietnam as a medic. For 30 years, he had been employed as a respiratory therapist in Lorain, Elyria and Oberlin hospitals, retiring in 2015 from Allen Memorial Hospital, Oberlin. Nick was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church. Nick enjoyed reading, camping, the outdoors, time with his family and friends and especially canoeing in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota and Michigan He had a love for dogs and never met a dog he didn’t like.
Nick is survived by his wife, Tricia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Olga (nee Arndt) Nickolette, brother, William Skura; in-laws, Mary and Eugene Machovina, Sr.; brother-in-law, Eugene Machovina, Jr. and sister-in-law, Christine Hartle.
Friends will be received Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Inurnment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH.
