Margaret E. Coniam nee: Terry, 94, of Elyria, died Friday, October 15, 2010. She was born November 28, 1915 in Medina, Ohio and moved to Elyria as an infant. She was a 1933 graduate of Elyria High School and a 1935 graduate of Elyria Business College. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Margaret was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ for over sixty years where she served three terms as a deaconess and also served on various committees.
She was a former member of the Elyria YWCA board, the United Fund and the American Red Cross. She was a life member of The Four OClock Club and was a volunteer at Elyria Memorial Hospital with over 1,000 hours of service. Other interests included bridge and travel and she was the 1934 Elyria womens tennis champion.
Margaret is survived by a son, Robert T.(Jane)Coniam of Avon Lake, with whom she made her home; daughter, Barbara A.(Jack)Morgan of Jacksonville, Florida and grandchildren, John Paul Morgan of Jacksonville, Florida, Elizabeth Ann Morgan of Dallas, Texas, Margaret Margo Jane Coniam and Carolyn Hope Coniam both of Avon Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty four years, Paul F. Coniam in 1995; an infant son in 1946; parents, A.F. Terry in 1949, Bess nee: Eidt Terry in 1955 and a brother Charles Terry in 1990.
The family will receive friends, Monday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A memorial service will be Tuesday 10:00 AM in the funeral home with Reverend Beth McKee officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross Lorain County Chapter, 2929 West River Road North, Elyria or New Life Hospice, 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria.
