Marlin “Ben” Corey, 78, of Elyria, died Tuesday July 30, 2024 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born April 11, 1946 in Elyria and was a 1964 graduate of Keystone High School. From 1964-1968 he served as a sergeant in U.S. Marine Corp. stationed in Vietnam. For eighteen years Ben was employed at 3M Company in Middleburgh Heights. He was a life member of LaGrange VFW and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, wood carving and spending time with his family.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of fifty nine years, Diane L (nee Schnaak); daughter, Jennifer Corey-Cutlip (Michael) of Amherst; son, Richard Corey of Elyria; grandchildren, Sarah (Adam), Benjamin (Sarah), Madison (Aaron), Mikayla, Kimberlynn and Eric and a great granddaughter, Moonlet Gertrude.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Gertrude Corey and a brother, John.
Friends will be received Friday August 2, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of a 1:00 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Pastor Tom Shumate will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria where Elyria VFW # 1079 will present military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
