Martha "Marti" Williamson Obituary

Martha “Marti” Lou Williamson (nee Frye), 63, of Wellington, passed away January 3, 2025 at her residence with her family by her side.  She was born July 11, 1961 and spent her childhood in Vermillion and Wellington. Marti attended Firelands until 8th grade and was a 1979 graduate of Wellington High School.  She attended Lorain County Joint Vocational School where she obtained her Cosmetology license. Marti then moved to Cincinnati, OH, married Roderick Williamson in 1986 and had her daughter Lindsey in 1988.  While in Cincinnati she worked at Queen City Reprographics where she made lifelong friends that were considered family and completed many business courses that helped her in her managing roles in the future. Marti moved to Florida in 1989 and worked as manager at Mail Boxes Etc. for 10 years. She returned to Oberlin in 2007, where she was a Manager at the UPS Store before returning to Wellington in 2013 to be closer to her family in town. Marti battled cancer and won during this time, although, it left lasting affects that stayed with her; she always made thfe best out o it!  She made many, many dear friends in her lifetime, she never met a stranger!  Marti always enjoyed helping others where she could. She enjoyed spending time with her family in Florida, going to the beach, boating and loved to play golf. She had fond memories of the Dolphin House, fishing with her family and riding horses at Doodle Hill Ranch.  Later in life she loved watching Dakota play basketball and volleyball, Lianna playing volleyball and baking cookies and doing puzzles. She was a very proud Grandma and loved making memories with them. Marti liked reading her kindle and loved sitting outside watching birds. She often spent a lot of time with her sister Ardy, having many conversations that lasted all night long, giggling as sisters do. Marti was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a dear friend to many.

Marti is survived by her mother, Lucille Phelps; daughter, Lindsey (Garrett) Butler; granddaughters, Lianna and Dakota Butler; brother, Johnny (Nancy) Frye; sisters, Ardeth (Keith-deceased) Ellis, Julie (Tim) Rolfe and Tammy (Jeff) Mason; nieces and nephews, Nikki (TJ) Denes, Grace & Morgan, Jerrica (Andrew) Hopkins, Skylar, Zander and Payson, Ariele (William) Jones, Charlie, Isabel, Hanna Ellis,  Jason Neff, Matt (Sadie) Neff and Katie (Dennis) Hansinger and aunts and uncles, Janice (Bill) Atkins, Cheri (Gary) Gersak, Larry Neal, Charles Ellis and Brenda Gilbert.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert A Frye and his wife Karen Frye; aunts, Roni Terranova, Vonda Ellis and Linda Neal; uncles, Dick Temple, Christopher Frye, Dee Gilbert and a nephew, Bobbie Darby.

Marti left an impression on the lives of anyone that knew her. She was a spitfire with a personality that will never be forgotten! She will be greatly missed by so many but will live on in the hearts of all the people that loved her so much.

Marti’s final wish was to have her body donated to science, in hopes that it may help doctors understand and, hopefully, find a cure for the disease. She was accepted to Case Western Reserve University, where she will continue to contribute to the world.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
