Martin R. “Marty” Lescher, 87, of Elyria, died peacefully Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was born May 13, 1938 in Elyria to Iris and Martin Lescher and was raised on Samuel St. He graduated from Elyria High School and served with the US Air Force. Marty married his high school sweetheart, Betty (nee Madok) October 19, 1957 and for 64 years, they resided at their Elyria Township home. He worked at BF Goodrich, Avon Lake as an industrial journeyman electrician and served as a volunteer fireman for Elyria Township Fire Department. In his earlier years, he coached little league west. He enjoyed bowling, going to the beach, and fixing and tinkering with electrical items that needed repair. Marty and Betty spent many winters in Florida as snowbirds and while in Florida, they attended Faith Lutheran Church and worked at the local food bank. He was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Elyria. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and loved dogs, especially his Cindy and Hannah.
Marty is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty; daughter, Keri Wilczynski; sons, Martin (Bev) and Michael Lescher; grandchildren, Kevin (Jenna), Tim and Joe (Jen) Dages, Ben (Mara) Wilczynski, Bethany (Nate) Hening, Brittany, Megan, Matt and Elle Lescher; great-grandchildren, Kev (Caroline), Kory, Cailyn, Evalina, Amalia, Easton and Emerie Dages and Leon Lescher and great-great granddaughter, Ellie Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Iris Brotherton; son-in-law, Dale Wilczynski; sisters-in-law, Helen Jezioro, Janet Snell and Peggy Crisp and brother-in-law, George Madok.
Friends will be received Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of a 12:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Dr. Bertram B. Lewis, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
