Mary Gnizak

Mary Gnizak nee: Sklenar, 95, of Elyria, died, November 17, 2010 at Life Care Center of Elyria. She was born March 8, 1915 in Gocovo, Czechoslovakia, immigrated to Belle Valley, Ohio in 1922 and has been a resident of Elyria for the past 80 years. She was formerly employed at Lake Erie Frozen Foods in Elyria.
Mary was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a former member of the church altar guild. She enjoyed flower gardening, baking, reading and spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Nancy L. Gnizak and a son, David(Peggy)Gnizak both of Elyria; grandchildren, Stephanie(Jason)Shoemaker and Greg Gnizak, great grandson, Luke Shoemaker and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 49 years, Peter G. Gnizak in 1990; sister, Suzanne Simon; brothers, Joseph and John Sklenar and parents, Joseph and Mary Sklenar.

Friends will be received Friday 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Saturday 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 1140 West River Road North, Elyria. Reverend Von Berlin will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Life Care Center of Elyria Patient Activities Fund, 1214 South Abbe Road, Elyria, 44035.
