Penelope Jane "Penny" Locke

Penelope Jane “Penny” Locke (nee Stevens), 78, joined her beloved husband and her devoted son in eternal rest November 30, 2024.

Born September 11, 1946 in Oberlin, Penny was a 1964 graduate of Oberlin High School and attended Baldwin Wallace University. For nearly 3 decades, Penny was a dynamic and dedicated administrative assistant at Prospect Elementary School in Oberlin. Penny truly loved her time at Prospect. She dedicated her life to helping others succeed, students and educators alike.

Lifelong resident of Oberlin, Penny will best be remembered for her beautiful spirit. Penny was kind to everyone and was a good listener. She was passionate about people, their stories and their lives. Family and friends (new and long standing) brought her much joy.

Her happiest times were spent with her four beautiful grandchildren, her family and friends, caring for her flowers and her love of reading.

Penny is survived by her daughters Denise (Bill) Capers of Oberlin and Christin (Martin) Brown of Columbus; grandchildren, Elena Robinson, Kristopher Robinson, Emily Capers and Brandon Locke.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Bert in 2014; son, Bert Locke II in 2014; parents, Vernon and Nell Stevens and sisters, Kay O’Brien and Pat Arnold.
