Phyllis Irene Payne

Phyllis Irene Payne (nee Bligh), 93, died peacefully Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Keystone Pointe. She was born July 12, 1932, to Charles and Mary Bligh (nee Richmond) in Penfield, Ohio and graduated from Penfield High School, class of 1950.

Phyllis married Randy Payne, June 6, 1956, where together they resided in Elyria and were the owners of several local businesses. After retiring from Resthaven Memorial Gardens, she enjoyed time with friends at Silver Sneakers and volunteering at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Elyria, where she attended. Phyllis had most recently made her home at St. Patrick’s Manor, Wellington.

Phyllis is survived by four nieces and one nephew and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Keith (Florence) Bligh, Marshall (Bernice) Bligh, Charlotte (Stanley) Riggs, Helen (Paul) Preston, Alice (Lyle) Simonson; nieces, Barbara Atwell and Norma Preston and nephew, Gerald “Jerry” Riggs.

Per her wishes, there will be no memorial or graveside service. Her final resting place will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
