Rebecca J Petruna

Rebecca J Petruna (nee Giesel) went home to be with her Lord and Savior June 6, 2025. She was born June 1, 1944 and lived in Lagrange, OH her entire life.

Becky graduated from Keystone High School in 1962 and began her first job in the Payroll Dept. of the Fruehauf Corp. the next day, where she was introduced to the love of her life, Michael Petruna. The married in June of 1964 and spent 48 ½ years together before Mike passed away December 28, 2012.

Becky graduated Cum Laude from Lorain County Community College and Kent State University with an Associate’s Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree, respectively.

Becky served the following School Districts as Chief Financial Officer during her years in education: Keystone, South Amherst, Midview, and Columbia. She was also a Tax Preparer at H&R Block for 23 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of LaGrange.  She loved her church family and served as pianist, choir director, Word of Life leader, and enjoyed team teaching the 2s and 3s Sunday School Class for more than seven years with her husband.

Becky and Mike enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  They enjoyed trips on steam trains, many trips to Walt Disney World, and were faithful Cleveland Indians/Guardians fans (GO GUARDS!)

Becky is survived by sons, Michael R. Petruna and Matthew R. Petruna (Stacey); grandchildren, Matthew R. Petruna, Jr., Philip G. Petruna (Sarah) and Jordyn A. Sparks; great grandchildren, Brynlie Beasy, Shana and Samantha Petruna, and Coltin Sparks; siblings, Pam Owen, Christine Bowers (Richard), Timothy Giesel (Linda); and 24 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mike, she was preceded in death by her father, Richard Giesel in 2010 and her mother, Phyllis Giesel in 2022.

Friends will be received Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of LaGrange, 200 Church St., LaGrange.  Funeral service will be Thursday June 12, 2025 at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church of LaGrange with Reverend Noel Hack officiating. Burial will follow in River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Township.
