Reverend Willis R. Hull Jr.

Reverend Willis R Hull Jr., 79, of Elyria, won his battle with Alzheimers disease as he gloriously entered into his eternal home on Tuesday morning, September 21, 2010, surrounded by his loving family and welcomed by His Personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He faithfully served in ministry at a number of churches in New York State and was responsible for the establishment of four Christian Schools, including Elyria First Baptist Christian School. He was the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Elyria from 1972 to 1983. He traveled for sixteen years holding Bible conferences and Evangelistic meetings across the country, including Alaska. He was a popular speaker at Youth events, retreats, Pastors conferences and many Christian schools. He ministered to missionaries in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and South America. When not traveling, he also served on staff at Grace Baptist Church, Westlake from 1983 to 1999. He completed his ministry at Faith Baptist Church of Amherst from 1999 to 2002, where he remained as Pastor Emeritus. He received his BA degree in radio broadcasting at Bob Jones University, Greenville South Carolina and earned his Bachelor of Theology from Baptist Bible Seminary, Johnson City, New York, where he served as instructor of speech and English. Mr. Hull served on the Boards of five missionary agencies, and the Board of Directors at Baptist Bible College and Seminary.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth; his children Jacalyn Schiller (Mark) of Amherst; Willis Hull, III of Rhinebeck, New York; Susan Johnson (Rev. Howard) of Davenport, Iowa; Jennifer Miller (Roger) of Amherst; twelve grandchildren; his brother, Bruce ( Phyllis) of Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Willis R. Hull Sr. and mother, Hazel, and his brothers, Ronald and Robert.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 23, from 4-8 pm at Faith Baptist Church, 440 N. Lake Street in Amherst. A service to celebrate Pastor Hulls life and ministry will be held Friday, September 24, 2010, at 7pm at the church with Rev. Mike Blog officiating. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the building fund of Amherst Faith Baptist Church or The Cleveland Area Chapter of the Alzheimers Association, 23215 Commerce Park Dr., Beechwood, Ohio 44122.
