Richard N. “Dick” Brady, 82, of Carlisle Township, died August 20, 2025. He was born April 13, 1943 in Weston, WV. At the age of 9 years old he moved to Elyria and other than job promotions taking him to PA and Cleveland, he settled in Carlisle Township until his death. He attended Maplewood Elementary, Crestwood Jr. High, graduated in 1961 from Elyria High School and attended classes at LCCC. He started as a mechanic at Shott Tractor Sales then as
a Fleet Supervisor at Servomation/Ware Vending, a Branch Manager and Regional Manager at AVI FoodSystems, from where he retired. He worked part time as an umpire for the Elyria Parks & Recreation and at Evans Bowling Lanes. On January 3, 2001, Richard was the first heart/kidney transplant recipient at UH after a 10-hour surgery. He survived 24 years without any periods of rejection. Richard golfed, bowled in several leagues and played basketball and softball for years at Elyria Parks and Recreation and Elyria Church League. He loved his home, content with the simple things in life, relaxing on the patio by the pool and always eager for his children, grandchildren and friends to visit. He also enjoyed gardening and his favorite thing was mowing the yard.
Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy (nee Cammarn) he said he knew she was the one when he first saw her in the 4th grade; daughter, Stephanie Adler; son, Eric (Tonia) Brady; granddaughters, Rachel (Nathan) O’Donnell and Erica Brady; grandson, Jacob Adler; great-grandson, Luke O’Donnell; sisters, Debra Brady and Denise Brady and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Opal Brady and a son-in-law, Dr. Michael Adler.
