Richard H Murphy

Richard H. Murphy, 93, of Elyria, died Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Ames Family Hospice, Westlake after a lengthy illness.  He was born August 29, 1931 in Gary, Indiana serving from 1951-1953 in the US Army.  He was employed from 1953-1993 as purchasing manager at ABEX Corporation, Elyria.  Richard enjoyed photography, camping, fishing, boating and traveling including a cruise in 2000 on The Rhine River with his wife.

Richard is survived by daughters, Terry Lantz and Lynda (Farley) McDowell; son, Randy Murphy; granddaughters, Richelle Ackerman, Jasmine Thrasher and Sara Murphy; great-granddaughter, Dimera Ackerman; brothers, Ken (Francine) Murphy and Robert Murphy and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jean M. in 2018; son, Richard W. in 2025; parents, Walter and Margaret Murphy; brothers, Don and Alan and a sister, Helen Grundy.

Friends will be received Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.
