Richard Lee Lanning, Sr

Richard L. Lanning, Sr., 69, of Elyria, died Wednesday February 5, 2025 at UH Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.  He was born May 24, 1955 in Cleveland and grew up in Lakewood.  Richard retired as a painter from Danco Metal Products in Westlake.  He enjoyed crafting, painting, drawing and was a talented woodworker. 

Richard is survived by daughter, Christina (Patrick) Adams of Mansfield; sons, Richard (Rhonda) Lanning, Jr. of Elyria and Kenneth (Pamela) Lanning III of Lorain; nine grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald and Kenneth Lanning and a sister, Elizabeth Helton.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Ruby in 2020; parents, Kenneth and Flora Lanning and sisters, Debbie Mangus and Judy Thompson.

Friends will be received Saturday February 15, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue,
