Ricky J. Smith

Ricky J. Smith, 64, of Elyria, died peacefully in his home Friday, April 18, 2025.  He was born September 9, 1960 in Elyria and was a 1978 graduate of Elyria West High School.  He was very artistic and painted and sculpted.  He worked in sales and also owned and operated his home inspection business.  Ricky enjoyed music and with his cousin, Benny, designed, built and dug by hand the koi pond in his backyard.   He enjoyed cooking and was a smoking meats extraordinaire.  Ricky admired classic cars, especially his father’s classic cars, enjoyed racing slot cars and driving fast cars.  He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Family was everything to him, especially his children and grandchildren. 

Ricky is survived by his long-time partner, Joyce; was an amazing dad to Amy (Lloyd) Doehr, Eric (Renee) Smith and Megan (Michael) Culver and a fun-loving papa to grandchildren, Hayleigh Kisel, Brendan (Jewel), Benjamin and Jacob Doehr and Alexa, Elijah and Evan Smith and Cooper, Cohen (Katie), Cameryn and Lennon Culver; great-grandfather to Liam, Bear and Remi with 2 additions on the way.  He is also survived by his parents, John and Judi Smith; sisters, Michele (David) Davis and Cathy Campbell and uncle to numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday April 25, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of a 1:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Jim Cooper of Harbourtown Community Church, Vermilion officiating.  Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
