Roy Elliott, Jr.

Roy Elliott, Jr., 84, of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at his residence.

He was born January 3, 1927 in Lynch, KY, grew up in London, KY and has lived in Elyria since 1955.

Roy served as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He worked at Ford Motor Company, Lorain Plant, retiring in 1987 and was co-owner with his son at the former Elliotts Fish Market in Elyria.

He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Elyria, enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and was an avid fisherman.

Roy is survived by a daughter Kimberly A. (Jeffrey) Allgood; son Michael A. Baker; and family friend Mary Ann West, all of Elyria; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter; sisters Minnie Collier of London, KY, Doris Pennington of Columbus, OH and Yalonda Brown of Connecticut.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary Louise Elliott in 1999; sons Craig Elliott, Sr. in 1994 and Roy J. Elliott, III in 1978; sisters Daisey Gilcrest in 2006 and Mae Dora Blue in 2002; brothers Cleon Elliott in 2010 and Gilbert Elliott in 1963 and parents Roy and Nellie (nee Gilbert) Elliott, Sr.

Friends will be received Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. A funeral service will be Noon Monday, July 18, 2011 at Bethany Baptist Church, 334 17th St., Elyria, OH 44035 with Reverend J. Howard Timmons officiating.
